Rex Engineering manufacturers two types of AC
powered motors. Permanent split capacitor (PSC) motors are reversible,
and shaded pole (SP) only run in one direction.
All things being equal, the shaded pole motors
are less expensive. Both types are thermally protected, and are UL and
CSA registered components.
